Jenna & Patrick

Jenna and Patrick's wedding was an epic event so, in turn, this is an epic post of details: lush Italian gardens, enormous crystal chandeliers, intricate ice sculptures, a cascading fountain of prosciutto and olives, a martini bar with a signature martini, italian dessert delights and a station where the waiter dramatically set something on fire.  Who can remember what it was, it just set the tone for a smokin' hot image of the bride and groom kissing in the background.  This amazing place is not fantasy - it is real and it is in a small town in New Jersey, not too far from New York City.  It's called Nanina's in the Park located in Belleville, New Jersey.  Jenna and Patrick, thank you for including me in your special day!

Gina & Eddie

The wedding of Gina and Eddie was a beautiful event coordinated by Malissa Murphy of CMT Event Planning.  The lovely ceremony was held at Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Chesapeake, Virginia and the reception was at the Norfolk Yacht Club. Gina loves Tiffany and her cake, as well as her brides maid's dresses and the groomsmen's tuxes, reflected the inspiration from the turquoise blue boxes clad with a simple white ribbon.  Detail of a heart shaped pendant with Gina and Eddie's initials adorned the cake.  The bride and groom, along with their family and guests, had a great time dancing the night away.  Gina and Eddie, thank you for including me in your celebration.

 

Happy New Year and Little Z {Norfolk, VA Children's Photographer}

I just wanted to say Happy New Year to all my past clients and to wish you all a wonderful, prosperous and healthy New Year.  And to say "Thank You" for being such wonderful clients and allowing me to capture your family memories!  I've got some exciting changes coming real soon, so keep coming back to catch the announcements here.  I'll also be writing on Facebook so if you haven't become a fan yet please do!  We are Sam Hughes Photography on FB.  

I had my first session of the year today with Little Z and her family.  She is part of my baby plan and now she is 6 months old.  Growing so fast and the cutest little thing you can imagine.  She's very charming and snuggly, too.  She and her family are moving in soon to a bigger home so we met up there to conduct the session.  It's completely empty while renovations take place and the light bouncing around inside was fabulous.  We also had fun on their front porch swing and just down the road at the river.  The best thing is that they are moving to my neighborhood - just a few blocks away!  I had a blast today with you as always, L Family.  Here are a few from today that I thought you would love.

Erin + Garrett

Erin and Garrett were married in early summer at the Church of the Ascension and partied the night away at the Marriott in Norfolk.  The two, along with many guests and family, had a blast!  One of the biggest parts of the night was when Erin's dad donned New York Mets paraphernalia for one time only, in a goodwill gesture to Garrett.  The couple was also surprised when New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter entered the room.  Actually, it was a life size cut out of Jeter, who Erin had had since she was a little girl.  Her super dad knew right where to fetch the figure and thought it would make a great addition to the reception.  He was right!  Jeter danced with all the ladies all night long.;)  This was one super wedding with tons of love and laughter.  Thanks for letting me part of it, you two!!
