Lisa and Jeff had a beautiful wedding at First Presbyterian in Virginia Beach, which is exactly where Terri and I got married 10 years ago! Then, they had a rockin' reception at the Princess Anne Country Club. The atmosphere was all about getting down as the band "Right On" rocked the house. Michelle of Weddings by Michelle did the design and coordination for the event. The scrumptious cupcakes were crafted by Just Cupcakes and the flowers were arranged by For the Unique. Lisa and Jeff, thank you for including me in your day - I had a blast!

Keriann + Tony

Keriann and Tony had their wedding day at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg! It's always fun to shoot at that classy location. The couple decided to do a "First Look" meeting before the ceremony and I really enjoyed capturing the emotion between them as they shared this time together. The colors and attire of the groom and groomsmen were off the hook. It was such a colorful day, the sky decided to get in on it with a rainbow display. Yes, that really did happen! A rainbow during portrait time at a wedding is definitely something special! Keriann and Tony, thank you so much for including me in your day!

Maritta

The beach session Maritta and I had planned for her maternity session was derailed when she called me to tell me she was on her way to the hospital. The babies could be born any day. So when I asked her if she would like me to come to the hospital for the session, she was ecstatic because she really wanted to document her "belly." We decided it would be a black and white session because of the hospital florescent lighting, but when I got to her room, there was a wall of deep set windows with beautiful, natural light spilling into the room. I did use some recessed lights in the room to give some shots a studio feel:

Maritta and Bradley told me a beautiful story about the watch. On the night they met, he gave his watch to her to wear home to prove that he was going to call her the next day. On every date they had, he would slip the watch onto her wrist first thing. On their wedding day, as she stood before him at the altar, he transferred the watch to her wrist. It was only fitting that she should wear it in a photo with their unborn babies.

Isn't she lovely?

We had so much fun with this session and now I can't wait to photograph the babies who did arrive three days later. I just thought this was a sweet story/session to share with you on Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Snow Day 2010

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share some of the pictures we took the weekend we had the snow storm. Pretty much everyone who has kids on our block came out to hang out and enjoy the snow. It certainly was exciting and there were some little ones for whom it was their first time in the snow (okay, really only Gypsy, our puppy, but she counts, too!).

I think Maddox is about to bomb me with a snowball here...thank goodness the snow wouldn't really compact too much!

This is our neighbors' great dane, Bella.

Gypsy was pretty cold and unsure about the snow at this point.

Tina + Trey

Getting to know Tina and Trey was a real hoot! These two were all about the party when it came to their wedding. They were extremely fun loving, even at their engagement session. Unfortunately, no matter what we had planned for photos after their ceremony, mother nature stepped in and literally blew those ideas out the window. It didn't matter, though. There was no way anything was going to dampen the spirits of these two! Below are a few from their day.

Ashley and Ryan had a fantastic wedding and reception beginning at the Williamsburg Presbyterian Church in Williamsburg and wrapping things up with their reception at William & Mary University's alumni house. Me and the wedding party left the church and were able to walk to the reception and along the way stopped here and there for some formals and impromptu shooting. Their family and friends came to party and no one left disappointed. Congrats you two!

Lori and Scott are good friends and their son, Noah, has been a friend of Maddox's since kindergarten. I was so happy that they participated in my Holiday Design Sessions this season. It was my first year offering these mini sessions to my clients and it was a good success for my first year. Next year, I'll have fresh, new designs for the cards so keep up with the blog as we get closer to find out what's in store. Noah's little sister was a perfect model and I could have spent all my time on her alone. Who could resist that adorable smile? I do have to say though, that the picture of Noah in the last set with his eyes wide is one of my favorite shots ever!

Ethan at 6 months Old

Well, I am waaayyy behind on my blogging and I'm trying to catch up this week to show you some of the sessions I had in the Fall and during the holidays. I want to start with Ethan, who is one of my 0/12 Baby Plan babies. In October, we got together to document his 6 month milestone and it was so fun to see how he had grown since our last visit together. He has such big, beautiful brown eyes and he's so curious about everything happening around him. This weekend, I'll see him again for his 9 month old session so I knew I had to get these pictures on the blog soon. I hope you enjoy this little man's smile.

Liz + Ryan

Liz and Ryan were certainly a special couple. When Liz and her mom first came to visit me, Liz expressed how important the pictures were going to be to her and Ryan. After talking in length about their wedding day vision, I knew it was going to be something special. Their ceremony and reception was held at the Chrysler Museum, in Norfolk, later in the afternoon, but we got there a bit early so we could use the grounds before beginning. Before starting with the couple's pictures together, we created a "first look," where they could meet each other in private before the ceremony. On top of having a blast with the wedding party, when I walked into the Chrysler, there were so many details I couldn't see straight.;) Liz and her mom had spent about a year creating and making everything. Liz even used one of her favorite books, The Pride and the Prejudice, as their guest book. I saw some really cool stuff. Special thanks to Jeremy Kilgore, with Blue Steel Pro Lighting, for lighting up the joint, DJ Rodney Charles for rocking the night and Cuisine & Co. for a terrific meal.
