Erin + Garrett

Erin and Garrett were married in early summer at the Church of the Ascension and partied the night away at the Marriott in Norfolk.  The two, along with many guests and family, had a blast!  One of the biggest parts of the night was when Erin's dad donned New York Mets paraphernalia for one time only, in a goodwill gesture to Garrett.  The couple was also surprised when New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter entered the room.  Actually, it was a life size cut out of Jeter, who Erin had had since she was a little girl.  Her super dad knew right where to fetch the figure and thought it would make a great addition to the reception.  He was right!  Jeter danced with all the ladies all night long.;)  This was one super wedding with tons of love and laughter.  Thanks for letting me part of it, you two!!

Angela + Mia/Norfolk Maternity Session

I had a fun session with a mom and daughter recently in downtown Norfolk.  Angela is expecting in May and hired me to take pics of her with her daughter as a surprise for her husband.  He'll never see this blog post before he gets the pictures so I haven't spoiled the surprise! :)  I love doing maternity sessions when it's a first child because the hope and uncertainty and excitement of the soon-to-be parents is palpable.  But I also really love doing the maternity sessions where it's a second child on the way and the first child is included in the session.  It is the documentation of a family growing and I'm helping this family record their own history.  That's pretty awesome and one of the many reasons I love doing what I do!  Thanks for taking a look....

Snow Day 2010

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share some of the pictures we took the weekend we had the snow storm.  Pretty much everyone who has kids on our block came out to hang out and enjoy the snow.  It certainly was exciting and there were some little ones for whom it was their first time in the snow (okay, really only Gypsy, our puppy, but she counts, too!).

I think Maddox is about to bomb me with a snowball here...thank goodness the snow wouldn't really compact too much!

This is our neighbors' great dane, Bella.

Gypsy was pretty cold and unsure about the snow at this point.

Then we put her sweater on her:

Oh, I can dig in this stuff:

We made a sled run on the steps of the church across the street...

Liz + Ryan

Liz and Ryan were certainly a special couple.  When Liz and her mom first came to visit me, Liz expressed how important the pictures were going to be to her and Ryan.  After talking in length about their wedding day vision, I knew it was going to be something special.  Their ceremony and reception was held at the Chrysler Museum, in Norfolk, later in the afternoon, but we got there a bit early so we could use the grounds before beginning.  Before starting with the couple's pictures together, we created a "first look," where they could meet each other in private before the ceremony.  On top of having a blast with the wedding party, when I walked into the Chrysler, there were so many details I couldn't see straight.;)  Liz and her mom had spent about a year creating and making everything.  Liz even used one of her favorite books, The Pride and the Prejudice, as their guest book.  I saw some really cool stuff.  Special thanks to Jeremy Kilgore, with Blue Steel Pro Lighting, for lighting up the joint, DJ Rodney Charles for rocking the night and Cuisine & Co. for a terrific meal.  Liz and Ryan, thanks for letting me be a part of your super duper day!  Below are just a few of my favorites.

Gypsy

Well, Christmas has come and gone and we added a beautiful baby girl to our family.  Maddox has been asking for a puppy for about five years, so we finally broke down and made his dream a reality.  Gypsy is a Vizsla, whose breed originally came from Hungary.  She has made herself quite at home and is having a great time keeping us up at night.;)  BTW, if I'm not mistaken, Clifford, the Big Red Dog, is a Vizsla.  Be sure to check out our blog periodically for more updates on Gypsy.  I'm planning on adding another page dedicated to her, so click on her link in the top bar after the beginning of the year.
