Erin + Garrett

Erin and Garrett were married in early summer at the Church of the Ascension and partied the night away at the Marriott in Norfolk.  The two, along with many guests and family, had a blast!  One of the biggest parts of the night was when Erin's dad donned New York Mets paraphernalia for one time only, in a goodwill gesture to Garrett.  The couple was also surprised when New York Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter entered the room.  Actually, it was a life size cut out of Jeter, who Erin had had since she was a little girl.  Her super dad knew right where to fetch the figure and thought it would make a great addition to the reception.  He was right!  Jeter danced with all the ladies all night long.;)  This was one super wedding with tons of love and laughter.  Thanks for letting me part of it, you two!!

Family Session/Northern Neck of Virginia/Morattico, Virginia

Earlier in the summer, I had the chance to reconnect with some friends I hadn't seen in 8 years!  We were amazed by the number of years it had been but yet how easy it was to pick up where we had left off.   It really felt to me like I had just seen them the week before at a baseball game after work playing on the National Mall.  You see, we all used to work together at Weil, Gotshal & Manges, a law firm in D.C.  It was all the same...except, there were these kids running around now....  So that kind of brought us back to the present....  The last time I saw Kris her oldest girl was just a baby.  It was amazing to see this beautiful child, remembering the baby she had been.  She is so poised and very much into fashion.  So different from my little man, who was with us and only wanted to play with the Bakugan toys at the house.  But S, the little one, had an interest in the bakugan as well so they made fast friends.

Now let me tell you a little about this family session.  I met up with this family at my other friend's river house on the Rappahannock River in Morattico, VA.  I love the Northern Neck!!!!!!!  To me, it is one of my favorite parts of Virginia.  The towns are historic and you will see so many of those historical markers along the byways up there.  I'm a nut about those historical markers, I have to read every one!  George Washington was born up in that area and lived on a farm there and many of the other important figures of early American history were born in that area, as well.  There are still so many farms and watermen that inhabit the area and it is still so authentic.  If you want some great seafood, a trip to the Northern Neck is a must!  Now, as a photographer, whenever I get to shoot in a new location I pretty much feel like a kid in a candy store.  But give me a new location and beautiful light and I pretty much think I've died and gone to heaven!  The light on the Northern Neck is different.  Maybe it's the sun touching the fields of wheat in the late afternoon, or the glimmering of rays bouncing off the river, I don't know.  It's just lovely though.

I enjoyed my time up there so much that afternoon that I arranged with my friend to use his house for our summer vacation this year.  So, Sam, Maddox, Cullen (Maddox's first cousin) and I all spent about five days there in July and we couldn't have asked for a better time.  It was relaxing, peaceful, beautiful and invigorating. Thanks, David, for so warmly opening up your home to us.  It is truly a gem.  Finally, here are some of the pictures I took that afternoon of Kris and her girls.  I know these pictures only show a little of how lovely that area is, but I still hope you enjoy them.

xoxo, Terri

Keriann + Tony

Keriann and Tony had their wedding day at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg!  It's always fun to shoot at that classy location.  The couple decided to do a "First Look" meeting before the ceremony and I really enjoyed capturing the emotion between them as they shared this time together.  The colors and attire of the groom and groomsmen were off the hook.  It was such a colorful day, the sky decided to get in on it with a rainbow display.  Yes, that really did happen!  A rainbow during portrait time at a wedding is definitely something special!  Keriann and Tony, thank you so much for including me in your day!

Snow Day 2010

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share some of the pictures we took the weekend we had the snow storm.  Pretty much everyone who has kids on our block came out to hang out and enjoy the snow.  It certainly was exciting and there were some little ones for whom it was their first time in the snow (okay, really only Gypsy, our puppy, but she counts, too!).

I think Maddox is about to bomb me with a snowball here...thank goodness the snow wouldn't really compact too much!

This is our neighbors' great dane, Bella.

Gypsy was pretty cold and unsure about the snow at this point.

Then we put her sweater on her:

Oh, I can dig in this stuff:

We made a sled run on the steps of the church across the street...

Tina + Trey

Getting to know Tina and Trey was a real hoot!  These two were all about the party when it came to their wedding.  They were extremely fun loving, even at their engagement session.  Unfortunately, no matter what we had planned for photos after their ceremony, mother nature stepped in and literally blew those ideas out the window.  It didn't matter, though.  There was no way anything was going to dampen the spirits of these two!  Below are a few from their day.
